Itinerary
The tour departs from Syracuse’s Molo Sant’Antonio for a journey through myth, history and traditions, exploring the charming historic centres of Ragusa Ibla and Modica. Please arrive 15 minutes before the departure time.
The best way to visit Modica is to walk through the streets of the historic centre, climbing up the alleys and getting lost in the maze of steps, past old houses, churches, shops and elegant palaces. The Cathedral of San Giorgio is a sumptuous, gilded structure preceded by a flight of 250 steps. It is an architectural masterpiece protected as a World Heritage Site.
A few minutes’ walk will take you to the Hyblaean Garden, a perfect synthesis of nature and man’s craftsmanship until you reach the majestic cathedral, symbol of the city, with its façade of rare beauty in Baroque style.
Ragusa Ibla surprises with its marvellous Gothic-Catalan portal, the only surviving element of the ancient Church of San Giorgio, which overlooks the town square creating a singular visual effect.
