1608: A GENIUS IN THE CITY

A tour that retraces the stages of Caravaggio’s life lived during the two months spent in the city of Syracuse. Through the words of the Sicilian author Andrea Camilleri we will take a journey back in time to tell the dark moments in the life of the seventeenth-century painter, who inspired artists and writers and revolutionized the stylistic canons of art history. We will move through the seventeenth-century history of the city of Syracuse, retracing the places visited by the painter, during his short stay, until we reach the place where his painting is kept, the “Burial of Saint Lucia”, which reveals the light of the soul of this painter with a dark life.
